(YELLOWKNIFE) Tuesday, February 11, 2025 – The Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly will discontinue direct-to-home satellite broadcasting of Sessional Proceedings, services currently offered on Bell and Shaw Satellite systems. This is in-part do to the decommissioning of the current satellite system used by these providers. Friday, March 14, 2025 will be the last broadcast delivered by Satellite.
The impact of this change is expected to be minimal due to the decline of Northwest Territories satellite subscribers alongside the continued expansion and accessibility to online streaming throughout the Northwest Territories.
Residents will continue to be able to stream session and committee meetings online at Legislative Assembly Website, YouTube, and Facebook Pages, or on radio on CKLB 101.9 FM. Daily sessional broadcasts on Northwestel channels in Yellowknife & Fort Smith will continue.
The Legislative Assembly works to supports broadcasting proceedings in the Northwest Territories Official Languages. Listeners may access these on the Legislative Assembly’s dedicated YouTube channels.
