(YELLOWKNIFE) Tuesday, October 29, 2024 – Today in the Legislative Assembly, Nicole MacNeil was reappointed as Executive Director of the NWT Human Rights Commission for another four-year term.
The Executive Director oversees the complaints process, serves as Secretary to the Commission, and manages the office and staff. Appointed by the NWT Commissioner upon recommendation from the Legislative Assembly, Ms. MacNeil works closely with staff and the public to facilitate the complaint process. Her office also conducts educational workshops and promotes human rights and equality across the NWT.
Nicole MacNeil will serve as Executive Director for the next four years. With extensive experience as a labour and employment lawyer, Ms. MacNeil brings invaluable expertise to her role. Her background includes advising on harassment and accommodation policies, mediating human rights disputes, and investigating workplace harassment complaints.
