Statements in Debates
Thank you, Mr. Chair. I’d like to thank my colleagues who support the motion. Again, the motion is to ensure that we do invest our dollars where it’s most urgently needed. No offence to my colleague in Fort Smith, but there is still $1.4 million that’s going to be expended on the chipseal project this year. I think it’s clear that this government has to ensure that public safety is paramount for whatever we do here.
With that, Mr. Chair, I would request a recorded vote on this motion.
Sergeant-at-Arms, will you escort the witnesses in.
Mr. Speaker, for the record could you introduce your witnesses, please.
Minister of Education, Mr. Lafferty.
Ms. Bisaro.
Thank you, Mr. Chair. I’d like, if it is possible, to get copies of that just to see exactly what those standards are so that when we talk about particular types of schools and costs associated with building schools, we know exactly what is being paid for and what is an add-on.
On another point, in regard to the Moose Kerr School in Aklavik, there was an addition added on to it, but there is the older part which was just a replacement of the roof. In regard to Mr. Beaulieu’s comments about going into the band office in Lutselk’e and having to walk over buckets of water, that was the same...
At this time I would like to ask the Speaker if he would like to bring in his witnesses.
Thank you. Just to remind Members, we’re on page 7-7. Mrs. Groenewegen.
Mr. Aumond.
Minister of Finance.
With that, we’ll begin with the Legislative Assembly after a short break.
The Committee of the Whole took a short recess.
