Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I have some questions for the Minister of Education, Culture and Employment on the Education Renewal Initiative. For some reason, as I’ve raised in this House many times before, it seems it’s our educators on the front line who are discouraged from expressing their opinion on a lot of things, and for what reason, I do not know because I would say they are in the best position to help us put together the best policies and practices to educate our children. Thank you, Mr. Speaker. On October 17th the Northwest Territories Teachers’ Association celebrated 60 years of service to northern educators. The NWTTA, as it is commonly called, had its humble beginnings in 1963 when it was founded by 63 teachers who attended the first NWT Teachers’ Convention in Fort Smith. For six decades this association has served as the professional voice for teachers across the Northwest Territories.
