Statements in Debates

Debates of , 19th Assembly, 2nd Session (day 40)

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Yes. Numerous complaints about how the pandemic is being handled. As was mentioned yesterday in the House, there are many moving pieces. Would the Minister commit to notifying a business if they are going to be part of a public health release sooner than at the time of the public notification, as happened in this case? Thank you.

Debates of , 19th Assembly, 2nd Session (day 40)

Can the Minister tell me if there is anything in the Privacy Act that would prevent public health officials from accepting a list of contacts from a business showing who could possibly have had contact with a person who may be positive for COVID-19?

Debates of , 19th Assembly, 2nd Session (day 40)

I'm just going to say I think we need more infrastructure, and I'd like to see the Dempster and ITH rehab in here, as well. Thanks.

Debates of , 19th Assembly, 2nd Session (day 40)

I will. Could I ask if the Minister spent the weekend being informed and briefed by the CPHO?

Debates of , 19th Assembly, 2nd Session (day 39)

I'd ask then, if there has been training done, if the Minister would supply me with records of training for the staff of the CPHO and the HSS. In the recent cases of COVID in Yellowknife, were these protocols followed?

Debates of , 19th Assembly, 2nd Session (day 39)

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. My questions are for the Minister of Health and Social Services. If a person tests positive after being in a community already, what is the government's response or protocols around contact tracing? Could the Minister please walk me through a scenario of what would happen in that instance? Thank you.

Debates of , 19th Assembly, 2nd Session (day 39)

More of a comment: I can't believe the Minister doesn't know if her own protocols were followed in a case such as this.

Debates of , 19th Assembly, 2nd Session (day 39)

I heard her mention that there had been training on contact tracing. Has the staff of the Department of Health and Social Services as well as the CPHO had formal training, certified training, on contact tracing?

Debates of , 19th Assembly, 2nd Session (day 39)

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. On Friday, I took double the time that I was allowed, so today, I'm going to keep my statement very short and sweet. I just wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank all of the teachers in the Northwest Territories for the hard work that they have done in trying to get our students back to work. As the daughter of educators, I watched my mother spend countless hours working well beyond her eight-hour day in order to prepare lesson plans as well as to mark tests. Our entire basement, as I just recently cleaned out, was full of teaching supplies, so I know...

Debates of , 19th Assembly, 2nd Session (day 38)

Will the Minister agree to properly fund the NWT 911 before funding the COVID 811 service? When will 911 be funded correctly so that the staff are not burned out, doing double shifts, missing meals and breaks, and potentially compromising the residents need in case of emergency?
