Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, aside from some of the counselling that goes on in the small communities and I guess sort of like a blueprint of what the wellness plans also bring to the communities, is there anything outside of that occurring in the small communities that's specifically trying to address the issues in the small communities relating to alcohol and drugs? Thank you.
My understanding is that the department is currently working on developing a mental health and addictions action plan specific to youth, or for youth. Is this correct?
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, I'd like to recognize a couple people working in the building today. The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), with more than 50 member legislatures, identifies benchmarks of good governance and best practices. It recommends that codes of conduct should “specify graduated sanctions and penalties for breaches of the code according to the seriousness of the effects of breaches on the functioning, reputation and legitimacy of the parliament.” The CPA’s Recommended Benchmarks for Codes of Conduct Applying to Members of Parliament also advises that codes should “specify that a Member convicted of a breach of the criminal law, may in...

Marci cho, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, following my Member's statement I have questions for the Minister of Health and Social Services. I would like to ask the Minister what services are available today, right now, for youth struggling with mental health and addiction issues. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

Marci cho, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, today we are talking about all the drug addictions that are happening. It is happening all over the place. Mr. Speaker, today the residents of the Northwest Territories are suffering from the impacts of severe addictions and mental health issues. As this Assembly knows, I represent four small communities: Ndilo, Lutselk'e, Fort Resolution, and Detah. Each one of these communities has recently seen the deaths of young people due to drugs and alcohol, not to mention similar deaths in Yellowknife and the regional centres. These deaths are totally unnecessary...
