Statements in Debates
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. As I mentioned earlier in the day, we have the 1-800 number that is set up to have contact with the duty officer. That’s normally the procedure for this type of communication. But as I earlier said, they can also go to the regional person and that can be relayed on up to the chain of command. Thank you.
Any correspondence that we need to, that we are able to share with the Members of the Assembly, we will share through committee or through tabling of documents in this House…
As I said, I will look into it with the department and see where we’re at with the Building Canada Plan and if we’re available to share that, I will share it with the other side of the House as soon as I can.
Centralizing the functions of the duty manager resulted in the department saving over a quarter million dollars by identifying more effective and costsaving practices for answering calls received after hours.
It probably depends on the issue, the concern that the people will have, so you can actually go through the regional person or come right directly to headquarters.
The Member is right. We have taken a position on the calving grounds on the Nunavut side of the border, but that is where the calving grounds are. On the Northwest Territories side is the range areas of the herds and many herds. Like I’ve said, we’re working with all the Aboriginal groups and stakeholders in this and across many departments and we’ll be developing something coming forward in the plan for the Bathurst and I will be bringing this forward at some time to this Assembly.
Yes, we will commit to having that to the Member by June 29th. Thank you.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I cannot commit to having it to the Member by June 24th, but I will commit to the Member to have it to him by end of session. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
I’ll have to check with the department if that’s exactly how we apply this and grade the roads at the same time, but if that is the case we will ensure that’s how it’s done.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I too would like to recognize two Pages today, Kaitlyn Ring and JD from Hay River. I’d also like to thank all the Pages for their hard work this week, especially with extended hours. Also Myrtle Graham, my CA for assisting with the Pages there this week. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
