The Mace of the NWT is a symbol of the Legislative Assembly that honours the history and culture of the Northwest Territories.
The tour connects the Legislative Assembly and elected officials with the communities of the NWT and is a chance to speak with residents about the role of Consensus Government and the Legislative Assembly in the North.
Each year, the Speaker, Sergeant-at-Arms, and members of the Office of the Clerk, visits a different community to showcase the intricate design and beautiful artwork of the Mace, including northern elements, painting, carving, metalwork, beadwork, quillwork, and pebbles from each of the 33 communities.
