Themed Statements and Questions in the Legislative Assembly

(YELLOWKNIFE) February 8, 2021 – The Standing Committee on Accountability and Oversight will hold four themed days in the Legislative Assembly during the February-March sitting. The topics will include: Economy; Addictions and Mental Health; Systemic Racism; and Housing.

On each themed day, Members will focus their statements and questions around the topic for that day with the intention of bringing both public and departmental attention to these priorities. The next four Wednesdays of Session will be focused on the following issues:

Wednesday February 10, 2021          Economy

Wednesday February 24, 2021          Addictions and Mental Health

Wednesday March 3, 2021                Systemic Racism

Wednesday March 10, 2021              Housing

“The Standing Committee on Accountability and Oversight looks forward to addressing these longstanding problems for the Territory. Though we all come from regions far and wide across the Territory we are united in having the government respond and move forward on these issues for the benefit of our constituents,” said Steve Norn, Chair of the Standing Committee on Accountability and Oversight.

The Standing Committee on Accountability and Oversight is composed of the 11 regular Members of the Legislative Assembly. The Committee’s role is to review issues which have government-wide implications, coordinate committee strategic planning efforts, and coordinate Sessional business scheduling.
