Statements in Debates
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. This is more of a comment. I'm willing to have discussions with the Minister's office here and share the document of 2006 so we can agree on a schedule and date as to when so the tenants could be notified, to ensure that they're at home during the scheduled time. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Welcome back, colleagues, and I also would like to welcome our two pages, Tia Gully and Jordan Lafferty, from Colville Lake, and their chaperone, Barbara Blancho, also from Colville Lake. Welcome to the House, and as mentioned in the opening prayer, the youth of our community is fully supported by the Assembly with reference in the mandate. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
Since our last adjournment in November of 2016, I have had the opportunity to visit each community in the Sahtu region. I spoke to a number of leaders and constituent individuals and listened to the challenges...
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Thank you, colleagues. Aside from the strategic directives, projects under way for capacity building, just to name a few, are:
lnuvik to Tuktoyaktuk Highway
Mackenzie Valley Fibre Line
Stanton Hospital
Mr. Speaker, there are other projects to come. As my colleague across the way once said, "the best social program is a job," and I totally agree.
Mr. Speaker, in closing, I recognize the efforts and dedication of the departments and the executive staff and their pledged after-hours work duties. I will remain a supporter for accountability and transparency of maximizing our...
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. As we come to our last session day of this calendar year, I've come to realize and see government's operations from a different and more positive perspective. I'm not saying that, Mr. Speaker, I just got up, I'm only saying I'm waiting for my colleagues.
Mr. Speaker, as elected Members of this 18th Assembly, starting with the selection of our representation back in December 2015 and January 2016, understanding of the operations and deliverance of programming gives me confidence in our mandate. This deliverance can be seen by the developments of the strategies that each...
Thank you, Mr. Chair. I move that this Assembly recommends that the Government of the Northwest Territories continue to provide updated timetables or schedules for the environmental assessments of all known potentially contaminated sites for which the GNWT is responsible to be included annually in the public accounts. Thank you, Mr. Chair.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Wonderful words for our second last day in action in front of the media here, something to take home for Christmas. I look forward to the upcoming schedule of the proposition. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I rise in the House here today to talk about the Anti-Poverty campaign here. In March of 2016 I had the opportunity to attend my first and the Third NWT Anti-Poverty Roundtable, "Building on our success". The roundtable theme focused on children, family support, healthy living, reaching our potential, safe and affordable housing, sustainable communities and integrated continuum of services.
The Territorial Anti-Poverty Action Plan was structured to build on successes and set priorities for the upcoming year and I am looking forward to the next one that is scheduled at...
Thank you, Mr. Chair. I move that this Assembly recommends that the office of the Comptroller General include in the consolidated public accounts a list of all departments, boards, and agencies in the government reporting entity, their deadlines for the completion of financial statements, and whether or not those deadlines were met. Thank you, Mr. Chair.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Earlier, I had mentioned my questions would be related to the antipoverty initiative here and the campaign. This program, I'm very intrigued with it here on my attendance seven months ago in March, there. It's a consolidation of various initiatives to address antipoverty.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I'm very glad to hear that there is a vacancy in the secondary role, as COO trainee under the Northern Management Development Program. Could the Minister keep me posted on the progress of the advertising of this position? Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
