I've been talking with Indigenous leadership. We are going to Nunavut this month to talk about caribou.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, sometimes people say perfect is the enemy of good. Well, if we do good, then we get criticized for not being perfect. So we need to do the job right. So I just want to make that very clear.

The federal government has agreed to hold primary discussions with Indigenous governments, the GNWT, the Government of Nunavut, and boards. The GNWT will actively participate in this engagement. The GNWT has not developed a position on a regional assessment. I need to stress we have not come up with a position.

Mr. Speaker, I want to recognize the athletes, coaches, managers, and mission staff, who will be representing Team NWT at the 2022 Canada Summer Games being held in the Niagara region of Ontario from August 6th to 21st. The Canada Games provides our national highperformance athletes with venues to compete in hopes of continuing their athletic journey to Team Canada for the Olympics or other international events.

The duration of longterm accommodations will depend on the level of damage to the residence and their homes and a reasonable duration for the repairs to be completed. So that people understand, from the 2021 flood people put up in the accommodations to meet their needs while their homes are being repaired, some of these people are still in accommodations and so that there is we're not going to kick people out. Mr. Speaker, the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs, the health system which was the Hay River Health and Social Services Authority, and the local housing authority are working together to ensure those who cannot return to their homes will be provided with longterm accommodations. So we do have a system in place that will triage them, I guess is the best way to describe it, and then we will see what their needs are and we have a system in place for how we do it.
