Déclarations dans les débats

Debates of , 18th Assembly, 3rd Session (day 31)

Thank you, Mr. Chair, and I thank the Minister for that. I am just trying to make sure I can get this information to the council, so I greatly appreciate the Minister getting that information. As soon as we get it, or even if the Minister or the department can get back to the community, that would be great. Thank you, Mr. Chair.

Debates of , 18th Assembly, 3rd Session (day 31)

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, my questions will be to the Minister of Education, Culture and Employment today. In my Member's statement, you heard me talk about the community in Sambaa K'e, about their school expansion and the issue about the gym. My first question to the Minister: the architects in the department made a commitment to come back and give them alternative options there. Has the department provided these options to the community? Thank you very much, Mr. Speaker.

Debates of , 18th Assembly, 3rd Session (day 31)

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. This motion proposes a relatively small change in wording that was identified by committee immediately before the clausebyclause review. As there was not time to draft and translate the motion without delaying the clausebyclause review, the committee and the Minister agreed that it would be acceptable to move this motion in the House.

It appears that there was some misunderstanding about who would be moving the motion during the Committee of the Whole review, and it was not moved as a result. However, the committee feels that the clarity provided by this motion is...

Debates of , 18th Assembly, 3rd Session (day 31)

Thank you very much, Mr. Chair. I guess I should have taken my glasses off so I could look at the fine print there. In regard to this health station replacement, why was there a carry-over? Is that because of the winter road? Because, when I went in there recently, they were all going crazy, they were building up, and it was going up pretty quick. Thank you, Mr. Chair.

Debates of , 18th Assembly, 3rd Session (day 31)

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, I seek unanimous consent to waive Rule 100(4) and to have the Committee Report 7-18(3): Report on the Review of Bill 6: Cannabis Legalization and Regulation Implementation Act be received by the Assembly and moved into Committee of the Whole for consideration later today. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

Debates of , 18th Assembly, 3rd Session (day 31)

Thank you, Mr. Chair. I thank the Minister for that clarification. The information is going to get out there, and they are going to be asking the question. Again, I thank the department and the Minister for providing the information on this. No further questions.

Debates of , 18th Assembly, 3rd Session (day 31)

I thank the Minister for that answer. I apologize because I didn't hear the May 31st, but the Minister has been very helpful to tell me it is May 31st. I greatly appreciate that. The community of Fort Simpson really appreciates this. Hopefully, we won't have to ask any more questions on it, and the Minister won't have to answer any more questions from me on this project. Thank you very much, Mr. Chair.

Debates of , 18th Assembly, 3rd Session (day 30)

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, I wish to report to the Assembly that the Standing Committee on Social Development has reviewed Bill 5, An Act to Amend the Summary Conviction Procedures Act, and wish to report that the bill is ready for consideration in Committee of the Whole. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

Debates of , 18th Assembly, 3rd Session (day 30)

I thank the Minister. I understand we can go around and around in circles. What I am trying to do is come up with a plan that we can move forward for the residents of Fort Liard. The problem is that somebody made a promise to them and now, no fault of their own, they made a decision that they were not going to pay their taxes, so what we are trying to do is come up with a plan to do it. Previously, the Minister talked about the Property Assessment and Taxation Act, and, if I understand him correctly, outstanding interest charges on property taxes are considered part of the taxation outstanding...

Debates of , 18th Assembly, 3rd Session (day 30)

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, I was talking earlier today in my Member's statement about taxation, and I asked the Minister some questions. I would like to follow up with more questions to the Minister of Finance: can the Minister advise, of that $9.6 million, how much is owed in taxes by the residents of the hamlet of Fort Liard and have a breakdown of principle and interest? Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
